Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying, delivery, products, and more.

Buying & Ordering

How do I place an order?

Simply contact our sales team by phone at 503-852-2494 or by email at sales@blueharborcontainer.com and tell us what you need. We will prepare a detailed quote and send it to you as a formal invoice. Review it at your own pace β€” if you are happy with everything, sign the invoice and return it to us. We will then issue a payment invoice so you can pay securely by card or PayPal. Once payment is confirmed we schedule your delivery or arrange pickup. No pressure, no rush β€” we are here to help you make the right decision.

Do you offer financing options?

Yes, we partner with third-party financing providers to offer flexible payment plans for eligible customers. Please contact our sales team to discuss your requirements and we will connect you with our financing partners. Approval is subject to credit check and terms vary by provider.

Can I inspect a container before buying?

Absolutely. We welcome customers to visit our depots by appointment to inspect units in person. Please contact us to arrange a viewing at your nearest depot. We believe in full transparency β€” you should see exactly what you are buying before you commit.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No, we have no minimum order quantity. We sell single units to homeowners and small businesses, as well as bulk orders for large-scale projects. Whether you need one container or fifty, we are happy to help.

Do you sell to individuals as well as businesses?

Yes, we sell to everyone. Individuals, homeowners, tradespeople, small businesses, large corporations, construction companies, and government agencies β€” we serve all customers equally with the same commitment to quality and service.

Can I reserve a container?

Yes, we can hold a unit for you for up to 7 days with a small deposit. This ensures the container you want is still available while you arrange delivery or finalise your plans. Contact our team to discuss reserve options.

How long does it take to receive a quote?

Most quotes are prepared and sent within 1–2 business hours during normal working hours. For complex custom conversion quotes, we aim to respond within 24 hours. We pride ourselves on fast, detailed, and accurate quoting.

Can I buy online and collect from a depot?

Yes, collection from our nearest depot is always an option. If you have your own transport and can collect the unit, we will deduct the delivery cost from your invoice. Please ask our team for a collection quote.

Delivery & Logistics

What delivery options do you offer?

We offer three main delivery options: Standard Delivery (3–7 business days) via tilt-bed flatbed truck; Extended Delivery (8–14 business days) for more remote locations; and Remote Delivery (14–21 business days) for the most challenging locations. We also offer a full Delivery and Installation service using forklift or crane for sites requiring precise placement.

Do you deliver to all US states?

Yes, we deliver to all 50 states. We deliver to all 48 contiguous states as standard, and delivery to Alaska and Hawaii is available on request with additional freight charges. We operate depot locations nationwide so we can reach you wherever you are.

How long does standard delivery take?

Our most popular delivery option takes 3–7 business days from the date payment is confirmed and your order is processed. We will contact you with a scheduled delivery date and the driver will call approximately 1 hour before arrival.

What do I need to prepare for delivery?

You'll need a firm, level surface for the container (concrete, compacted hardcore, or railway sleepers), clear vehicle access (minimum 10ft wide, 14ft overhead clearance), and a responsible adult on-site to direct placement and sign the delivery paperwork. If you have access concerns, contact us before ordering.

How is the container placed on my site?

For standard deliveries, the tilt-bed truck slides the container off onto the ground in the position you direct. For sites that need precise placement, we offer forklift or crane installation as a separate service β€” our team will position the unit exactly where you need it, including in confined spaces or on uneven ground.

What if my site has difficult access?

We have delivered to thousands of sites β€” from narrow urban streets to rural farms with tricky access. If you have access concerns, please contact us before ordering. We can assess your site and recommend the best approach, which may include our Delivery and Installation service with specialist equipment.

Can you deliver to a construction site?

Yes, we deliver to construction sites every day. Please ensure the site is accessible and that there is a responsible person available to direct the driver and sign for the delivery. If the site requires special arrangements (e.g., out-of-hours delivery or traffic management), let us know in advance.

Will you call before delivery?

Yes. We will call you at least 24 hours in advance to confirm the delivery window, and the driver will call approximately 1 hour before arriving. For extended deliveries, we provide regular updates at each stage of the logistics process.

Products & Specifications

What sizes and types do you stock?

We stock 10ft, 20ft, 30ft, and 40ft shipping containers in standard and high-cube variants, as well as steel cabins, jackleg cabins, flat pack cabins, toilet and shower blocks, site security units, and fully custom conversions. We also offer container homes, container offices, and trailer offices built to your specification.

What is the difference between Grade A and One-Trip?

One-Trip containers are brand new, used only once to transport cargo, and are in near-perfect condition β€” ideal for conversions and customer-facing uses. Grade A containers have had multiple trips but are wind and watertight with minor surface wear β€” they offer excellent value for general storage.

Are your containers wind and watertight?

Yes, all our Grade A and One-Trip containers are fully wind and watertight with intact seals and structurally sound floors. Grade B units are functional but may have more visible wear β€” we always describe the condition honestly so you know exactly what you're buying.

Can containers be customised or converted?

Absolutely. We offer a full in-house conversion service. Common modifications include windows, doors, insulation, electrical fit-out, heating, flooring, custom paint, shelving, and more. Contact us with your specification and we'll provide a detailed quote.

How long will a container last?

With basic maintenance, a Corten steel shipping container will typically last 25 years or more. They are engineered to survive ocean voyages in the harshest conditions on earth, so on dry land they are extremely durable. We recommend inspecting the exterior annually and repainting any surface rust with a rust-inhibiting primer.

Can I stack containers?

Standard shipping containers are designed to be stacked up to 9 high when empty. For on-site stacking we recommend a maximum of 2–3 units. If you plan to stack containers, consult a structural engineer to ensure the ground bearing capacity and container condition are suitable. We can supply stackable units and advise on the best approach for your specific project.

Do your containers have any chemical residue from previous cargo?

All our containers are cleaned and prepared before sale. Containers that previously carried hazardous or strongly odorous cargo are rejected from our supply chain. For added peace of mind, we can provide a certificate of cleanliness on request.
